LED Skylights for new Trauma Ward.

One way of facilitating a good recovery following a major trauma is to ensure that patients are provided with a safe and restorative environment. The new state-of-the-art trauma ward will be able to provide this.

As part of this refurbishment, the Friends provided £10,000 so virtual skylights could be installed into the four bays in the new ward, together with funding to cover a range of items from stress balls to plants for the ward. All designed to improve the patient’s experience and help with their recovery.

“Ward environment matters. We hope that LED Skylights will bring our patients closer to nature and have a positive impact on their well-being. A huge thank you and appreciation to the Friends of St George’s Charity for funding this initiative” – Clinical Psychologist

“The installation of the skylights on the major trauma ward has brought a sense of peace and calmness. Patients admitted on the ward usually are suffering from the most traumatic time of their life and suffer severe injuries. The addition of the skylights means that these patients will be cared for in a calmer, more welcoming environment. It provides a bright scenery for those patients who have limited mobility and otherwise would have been looking at a blank ceiling. I can truly say that the skylights are my favourite part of the ward and will hugely contribute to a positive experience for all those admitted” – Ward Manager
